PlatformsKahn, Verity

Built in a library, for libraries.

Every piece of software here exists because I needed it and it did not exist. I taught myself to code with no prior programming experience, because a national Catholic reading program ended and the alternatives cost thousands a year and knew nothing about Catholic schools.

Platforms

Lux Libris

A Catholic reading platform with a student app, a parent app and a teacher dashboard. Two hundred and thirty-four collectible saints, each with original artwork, a biography and a feast day. A third of eligible students enrolled within three months.

HEIMDL

A library management system built when cataloging became the bottleneck on a ten-thousand-book donation. A competent librarian catalogs thirty books a day. With HEIMDL I catalog six hundred, including spine labels and barcodes.

It monitors content as it catalogs, so a librarian working alone is not the only thing standing between a donation crate and the shelf.

Lux Fidei

Prayer and formation as its own place: simple prayer, Lectio Divina, the Rosary, Visio Divina, the Stations of the Cross, and the Via Sacra pilgrimage.

Built for classes rather than for individuals, so a school can reward a whole class for praying together every day, and the rewards themselves carry the formation rather than sitting beside it.

Saint Gertrude House

An eighth-grade elective run as a working publishing house, open to manuscript submissions from every grade. Students interview for roles as publishers, editors, designers and publicists. Twelve student publishers; nine ISBN-registered books in the permanent collection.
